The city of Solin is located in the area of Split-Dalmatia County. It is surrounded by the Kozjak and Mosor mountains from the north and east (Klis municipality), the Kastela Bay from the west (the city of Kastela), and in geographical terms it forms an urban entity with the city of Split, with its border to the south. The administrative area of the City consists of 5 settlements: Blaca, Kučine, Mravince, Solin and Vranjic.

Like the entire area of the Central Dalmatia, Solin is characterized by a very favourable climate. Its weather is distinctly Mediterranean, with mild, mostly wet winters and dry, hot and sunny summers. This favourable climate is also influenced by the local and periodic (seasonal) winds, including the southeast wind (jugo) and the northeast wind (bura) that blow throughout the year, most strongly in winter when their bioclimatic effect is the most keenly felt. The most characteristic winds in the early spring and summer are the northwest wind (maestral) which has a considerable thermoregulating effect, i.e. directs cooler air from the sea. Annual rainfall is approximately 800 mm, evenly distributed, so that spring and summer are mostly dry with moderate amounts of rain during autumn and winter. Snow is rare.
