Project aims to diversify and promote tourist offer of urban destinations (Blagaj in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Solin in Croatia, Podgorica in Montenegro) on the rivers of the Adriatic basin (Buna, Jadro, Morača) through cross-border cooperation on sustainable tourism development, capacity building of service providers, revitalization of cultural heritage and sustainable use of natural resources. In addition to building simple visitor infrastructure and supplying thematic equipment in each of the cities, the project is aimed at improving the management of natural and cultural heritage through cooperation of stakeholders with different competences and jurisdiction, activating the economic potential for sustainable use of the heritage by involving and educating target groups in the tourism sector, promoting destinations internationally, increasing the number of visitors, and finally raising awareness among the wider community of the importance of preserving and appropriately using heritage.

MAIN OUTPUTS:

  • Developed and jointly promoted special forms of tourism in urban areas on the rivers of the Adriatic basin;
  • Developed tourist info points in the targeted urban destinations on the Adriatic basin rivers (Solin, Blagaj/Mostar, Podgorica);
  • Developed Sustainable Tourism Development Strategies for the targeted riverine cities;
  • Relevant stakeholders trained to guide tourists and present cultural and natural values of the Adriatic basin urban areas;
  • Cultural and natural assets of urban destinations on the Adriatic basin rivers improved through:

– valorisation of the Diocletian aqueduct at the source of the river Jadro,

– arrangement of the Special Ichthyologic Reserve Jadro (renewal of the pedestrian bridge, installation of information boards, installation of urban equipment, arrangement of the horticulture within the reserve),

– valorisation of the antic city of Dolcea (arrangement of walking paths, landscaping, installation of signs and information boards, lightning, procurement of portable equipment for tourists visiting the site),

– revitalization of excursion site Bare on the river Buna (set up of fishing platforms and arrangement of the promenade/fishing path),

– valorization of fortress Stjepan grad in Blagaj (cleaning and renovation of pedestrian path, installation of urban equipment and protective fence).
